Introduction to UNIX for Web Developers The "man" Utility We are going to go over quite a few utilities in the next few days, certaintly the ones you will use 95% of the time. However, there is no way that we could possibly cover all of the available commands on all the available systems. Thus, we will make mention of an excellent resource on all UNIX systems that allows you to get the documentation for any installed utility. This is the "man" utility.

The "man" utility provides basic documentation for utilities and is as easy to access as typing "man" at the command line as shown below for the "ls" command.
